Power & Energy Manufacturing & Machining Services.
Heavy-component machining, fabrication, and assembly for gas, steam, hydroelectric, and balance-of-plant power generation, across 7 plants and 350,000 square feet of specialized production capacity.
Download BrochureEvery megawatt starts with equipment and facilities built to run for decades. At Norwest Precision Ltd., we manufacture, machine, fabricate, and assemble the heavy, tight-tolerance components that keep gas, steam, and hydroelectric plants running. From aeroderivative and heavy-frame gas turbines to hydro headcovers weighing many tons, our team of 300 experts has brought precision to industrial-scale hardware since 1965.
Our 100,000 sq. ft. facility offers 160,000 lbs. of lifting capacity, 25 ft. of under-hook clearance, and some of North America's largest CNC machines. That capacity lets us machine high-strength, high-temperature materials, including stainless steels, chrome-moly, and Inconel, to the exacting tolerances large turbines and generators demand. We manage every stage of complex projects, from fabrication and finishing to assembly and testing. The result is precise execution, full material traceability, and ISO 9001:2015 quality for your most critical power projects. As part of New Era Group, we can also draw on 350,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space across 7 plants for large-scale power programs.
We manufacture, machine, and assemble a wide range of components for the Power & Energy sector, including:
Case Study
Four-Pole Generator Shaft Manufacturing for a Power Generation OEM.
THE CHALLENGE
A major power-generation OEM required a high-precision four-pole generator shaft, a safety-critical component that operates continuously at high rotational speeds under severe mechanical loads. The primary challenge was executing complex, interrelated turning, milling, and fine-finish geometries along the component's full length while holding micron-level tolerances on critical bearing journals to eliminate vibration, imbalance, and operational wear.
THE NORWEST SOLUTION
Norwest Precision assumed total manufacturing accountability for the OEM-supplied material, controlling the entire machining scope under one roof. Our team performed high-precision turning and milling to create complex shaft geometries, then precision-ground critical journal surfaces. This unified process ensured exact dimensional accuracy, smooth surface finishes, and optimal bearing fits for high-speed operation.
RESULTS
The finished four-pole generator shaft was delivered fully certified and ready for immediate integration, meeting every strict dimensional, surface finish, and mechanical tolerance mandated by the OEM. By centralizing turning, milling, and precision grinding under a single point of contact, Norwest Precision guaranteed total schedule control, absolute process reliability, and zero-defect quality.
